2XKO fiends will have to wait until February to hear what's coming in Riot's upcoming fighting game

The 2XKO team off on vacation, but they're gone nice little road map of sorts for those who wanted to learn more about the game before heading off to the office for sweet treats and boozy nights out. In short, there will be an update on what's coming in February, and a chance for players to see this for themselves in March.

This is according to what we already know, that the next playtest will come sometime in the Spring of 2025. The spring, for those who have forgotten, will include the months of March, April, and May. This, in addition to the game being set for a vague 2025 release date, has led many to believe that this upcoming playtest will be coming either in March, or soon after after. Ben Forbes, editor-in-chief of 2XKO, he reduced the time on this further “main blow” as falling into “probably late) March.

Yes this means on the surface we have to sit back a few months and wait for more. But let's have some fun, collect what we know, and think a little. Time is running out fast until the final release date, even as it remains a mystery.

We know that Jinx comes to the game courtesy of her gameplay trailer was released during the Arcane hype season, so it's not a stretch to say that she will be playable in the upcoming playtest. In fact, the devs have a history of naming characters only to make them playable at the next possible opportunity. Yasuo was announced the day before Evo 2023where players were able to try themselves, and Braum was announced shortly before Evo 2024 and the first alpha lab test.

Further digging will bring up more interesting tidbits. Fighting game player and content creator Diaphone was one of a handful of influencers who traveled to the Riot Games offices to play Jinx early, and revealed that he was able to try out other characters which is still unannounced. This is not unusual. A while ago, Riot brought a large number of streams to the offices to test the pre-Evo 2023 build where they could be drawn around by Yasuo as well as other characters like Braum who were kept hidden from public eyes at the time.

From here, one could raise their hopes that a new character appears coming in February. This is by no means certain, but when you consider that we only have so many months until launch and the game only has seven official characters (as well as Katarina, who lives in this strange semi-proven area) there needs to be some real momentum if the game is going to hit that comfortable 10-character roster.

Other things that could be published is a more detailed release date / window, which would be nice. I would personally bet that a fall 2025 release window could be put out there. In addition, Evo 2025 is approaching soon. 2XKO has been a long time presence at the eventso I would not be surprised if more information on that subject was identified.

So here we go, another period of radio silence until more concrete information gets out there. What do you think they will be showing in February? Let us know below!
