Virat Kohli ordered to hit two more centuries in BGT 2024-25 by ex-BCCI chief selector

Former BCCI selector Chetan Sharma has backed top batsman Virat Kohli to come out strong in the remaining two matches of the 2024-25 Frontier-Gavaskar Trophy. He said that his prediction about the batsman scoring three tons in the series will come true as he will hit two more centuries.

Indian National Cricket Team batsman Virat Kohli has come under the pump once again for his failures in test cricket. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 premiership batsman started on a high as he slammed a magnificent century in Perth and looked set to set the stage on fire.

Virat Kohli has managed just 26 runs after his century in Perth

However, after that century, his graph saw a downward trend as the batsman failed to perform well in the last two games of the series. The demons of the off-stump line have come back to haunt him as he has a run of low scores in the last four innings.

After Kohli scored a magnificent century in Perth, he was expected to have a big series. But it has been just the opposite, as he has looked clueless in the last two games, which took place at Adelaide and the Gabba.

After his 100-run knock in Perth, Kohli has managed just 26 runs, which is no doubt a huge concern for him with the series on the line. The batsman would want to turn the tables around in the last two matches as runs from him are needed on the hour for the Indian National Cricket Team.

Let's hope he gets two more centuries in the next two matches – Chetan Sharma on Virat Kohli

Chetan Sharma, despite the poor form of Kohli, has emerged as the top batsman to score a run in the last two matches of the 2024-25 Frontier-Gavaskar Trophy. He battled for Kohli to hit two more centuries in the last two matches, saying his prediction would come true. Speaking to ANI, he explained:

“He is a player who has achieved so much for us, which will raise our expectations. I am confident he will do well. Let's hope he gets another double century in the next two games. I had predicted before the series that he would score three centuries in Australia.”

Virat Kohli has been struggling to get going with the bat in 2024

Overall 2024 has not been a good year for Virat Kohli at all. In the 9 matches he has played so far, the senior batsman has amassed 376 runs at an average of 25.06, with his highest score being 100 not out. In this cycle of WTC, he has 687 runs in 12 matches, at an average of 36.15, with two centuries and three fifties.

The numbers suggest that Virat Kohli has not been at his best in Tests. However, he will have a golden opportunity to turn the tables around in the final two matches of the 2024-25 Frontier-Gavaskar Trophy, which are scheduled to be played at the MCG and SCG.
