We are in the middle of the last full week of December, so almost everyone has already called it a year and started vacation. This also includes Rockstar, the manufacturer of Game GTA 6. All that to say: the chances of us getting a new trailer for the highly anticipated game are slim to none.
None of that matters to a certain group of fans, however, who have proven to themselves that, we Yes getting a new GTA 6 trailer this week.

Before we get into the details, it might be worth suspending your disbelief a bit when you read this one. I'm not even entirely sure that the same people behind the theory believe it themselves, but let's have a crack.
As observed by PC gameit all started when a Rockstar developer posted a photo with some “grooves” that appear to represent the number 27. Troll or not, the photo picked up by the GTA 6 leaks Twitter accountwho took it upon themselves to share it for any possible opinion.
Pictured is a Rockstar Games jersey with GTA 6 colors, as well as other Rockstar-themed memorabilia. What makes it interesting is that the jersey has cat hair shaped like the Roman numerals VI. Look closer, and you'll find a phone number on a piece of paper at the bottom. The number appears to be for an auto shop in Florida called 27 Auto Sales. The leak count took that number as a cue and ran with it.
If you are on the Believe team, you will be happy to know that the number 27 leads to several things. For one, the current Rockstar Instagram account Yes just 27 posts. Making things more interesting, 27 seconds in the only GTA 6 trailer we have we see a car with the same number written on its rear window. There is also a Lost Santos State Trooper car license plate that has the numbers up to 27.
This is when things take a sharp turn into the stagnant. This particular discovery relies on the moon theory, which suggests that Rockstar uses the phases of the moon to tell fans when GTA 6 trailers will be released. There are 27 days in a lunar cycle, which is another element with 27 on it.
The cycle of interest here is the Waning Gibbous moon phase, because that's when we got the first GTA 6 trailer (December 1, 2023), so it follows that the second trailer will be released on a day that also happens to host the Waning Gibbous moon. That day was December 20th, last Friday, and we certainly didn't get any trailers at that time.
So the “theory” has now moved to this Friday, December 27th as the next possible date. And, since these things are elusive and do not follow a strong logic, some have even suggested that the trailer will arrive on January 14, which is when the next Waning Gibbous will be seen.
Back in the real world, we still expect GTA 6 to be released by the end of 2025. We don't know when the next big piece of information about the game will be revealed, but there's a good reason Rockstar is staying quiet.
