Hanukkah begins on Wednesday; Jewish QC leader hopes for 'more light, less darkness'

Peace in the Middle East is on the mind of a local Jewish leader before Hanukkah begins on Wednesday night.

The Jewish Festival of Lights celebrates the rededication of the second temple after the Second Century conquest of Jerusalem.

Every night for eight nights, Jews light a candle in addition to a Menorah. A member of the Quad Cities Jewish Federation believes it is a time of hope.

“It's been a very difficult 444 days since October 7, 2023, so we're just looking for more light, less darkness: The return of the enemies, peace in the Middle East, and a reduction in anti-Semitism around the world. .”
