Indiana Jones has always had a great number of friends around the world. Characters like Sallah (John Rhys-Davies) not only make his cinematic events more lively and interesting, but they make us understand that the work of Dr. Jones on the friendship and respect of many good people has already earned him worldwide recognition, so he must be doing something right. Antonio, a Vatican priest, helps Indy in his latest adventure, and he's an instant standout, one you can tell writers about. The Great Circle put some real thought and care into development. He is not a stuffed or stereotypical figure, Antonio is a three-dimensional person and a delight. A moral figure but not a moral man, he is a man who watches with dread the turning of the global political tide but still wants to be able to taste the good things in life, like that humdinger of an American album that Indy takes with him. as a gift.
Wonderfully played by Enrico Colantoni, an actor with an impressive resume whom I know from his work in Galaxy Quest like Mathesar, the leader of the Thermians, Antonio is thoughtful and plausible, a vital part of The Great Circlein a wonderful universe, pseudo-historical texture. And so, while the game was I saw my eyes laying eyes on the pyramids of Gizeh, on the ancient Buddhist statues, and on other amazing sights and cultural wonders, the sight that I remember the most may be the sight of Antonio, the sight wonderful, kind, wonderful this. a priest wearing hearing aids, dancing with joy to the groovy sounds of the latest hits in New York City. – Carolyn Petit
