Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is holding a press conference on Monday as questions swirl about his political future.
A growing number of liberal MPs have called on the Prime Minister to resign
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will hold a news conference this morning to announce he will step down as Liberal leader, sources told CBC News.
The source, who spoke to the CBC on condition of anonymity, said Trudeau will remain in office until his successor is selected.
Trudeau will speak at Rideau Cottage at 10:45 am, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office.
The Prime Minister's press conference comes as Liberal MPs are publicly calling for him to resign as leader of the Liberal Party.
Several regional caucuses, including those in Atlantic Canada, Quebec and Ontario, have called on him to resign, along with at least two dozen individual MPs.
More to come.
