In particular, that series of rats would have introduced audiences to the idea that animals are not only dissociated but also move between broken and conscious states in an instant. That would have provided a little more explanation as to why goats are on the broken floor later in the season, a mystery that remains one of the main unsolved questions for break up followers.
Introducing Mark's Outie to Cobel as a Lumon employee who hires him to be separated would have eliminated one of the main tensions of the first season, as well as the second season which is to come. In the series as we know it, he goes through the separation process as a way to deal with the grief of his wife's death. It is a major factor in the whole series, setting up the big twist that his wife is probably not, in fact, dead, because it is the well-being counselor Ms. Casey (Dichen Lachman) on the floors that is on the cut down This publication is at Inse, and it is one that is an inspiration for many to wake up in the second season to come.
Another change is that the original version of the pilot script involved Mark waking up on the table at his Lumon's direction, and then being “born (right) out of a large sphincter in the ceiling, ” according to Erickson. This is very different from the pilot episode we all know and love, in which Helly wakes up on the board and is trained by Mark. She doesn't end up in an endless storage closet, but runs again through an exit door that takes her back to the broken floor before she sees Outie's welcome video explaining her decision. go through the separation process. That change alone would have changed the dynamic of the main team. Instead of Helly willing to write a message to Outie in her arm or try to commit suicide, all in an effort to leave the broken floor, it could have been Mark.
There are still eight more episodes of the podcast to be released before the January 17th Season 2 preview date. If these are the kinds of revelations we're getting from just the first 20 minutes of the first episode, we may never see break up the same way when we are done listening to everything.
