In a brutal and provocative speech on Tuesday, incoming US president Donald Trump refused to rule out the use of military force to press a series of territorial claims. Since winning the November presidential election, Trump has made a number of seemingly ignorant and alarming claims about Canada, Greenland and the nearby Panama Canal, leaving supporters and opponents alike confused about his true intentions.
