Sonic integrates USDC Circle bridge

Sonic Labs has announced that the Series 1 virtual machine Ethereum Sonic now supports the bridge version of Circle stablecoin USDC.

The stable USDC.e on Sonic, converted from native USDC (USDC) on Ethereum via the Sonic Gateway, now live on the EVM L1. Sonic accelerates USDC Circle bridge status, according to the advertisement from the platform.

By integrating USDC Bridge, Sonic aims to bring the benefits of the stable to its ecosystem and help jumpstart developer activity. The bridge version allows newly launched networks to reduce liquidity fragmentation and often leads to an eventual upgrade to native support.

Why was USDC closed?

With bridged USDC, developers can build decentralized applications on Sonic with contract addresses that remain even when the network is upgraded to native USDC.

Bridged USDC means that no code changes due to possible native support. Users across the ecosystem will also have a better experience when exchanging tokens on decentralized exchanges, and access the benefits of liquidity provision and payments.

A recent cycle partner with Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by volume, to accelerate USDC adoption. And after receiving MiCA registration, issuer USDC achieved another milestone by becoming the first issuer to meet new Canadian regulations.

Users of the Sonic USDC network can receive a bridge from Ethereum via Sonic Gateway; from Solana and Fantom via deBridge. A USDC bridge is also available from other blockchains and DEXs to Sonic.

In December 2024, Sonic Labs announced that the L1 proposal for Aaave integration is on past the temp check platform. Meanwhile, Sonic has welcomed key partnerships including Curve Finance, KyberSwap and Sushi. Multiple exchanges also announced support for FTM to S migration.
