Ontario Provincial Police say a 19-year-old teenager is facing upgraded and additional charges, including attempted murder, after he allegedly made threats against Collingwood High School and planned to harm students.
Police say they received a report last September about a possible threat at Collingwood Collegiate Institute by a former student, but it was not imminent as it was made in March.
The accused, of Clearview Township, Ont., was originally charged in September with uttering threats to kill and several weapons offences.
Police said officers discovered a device that revealed more details, indicating the plan to harm the students was “elaborate and well-researched.”
They say the former student now faces more than a dozen charges, including one count of attempted murder, one count of attempted assault with a weapon and two counts of possession of a firearm.
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Barrie, Ont., on Jan. 20.
