Data on chain shows that XRP started the year with a strong increase in adoption, as shown by a significant increase in the Total Number of Holders.
XRP will be the crypto with the fastest adoption in early 2025
In a recent post on
“Total Number of Holders” refers to a token that tracks the total number of addresses on a given network that have a non-zero balance.
When the value of this metric rises, it indicates that new investors are joining the blockchain or that existing investors who previously sold their assets are reinvesting .
This transfer may also occur when existing users create new addresses for reasons such as privacy.
In general, all these factors can contribute to an increase in the total number of holders, so it can be assumed that there is a net adoption of the cryptocurrency.
On the other hand, if this indicator decreases, it means that some investors are emptying their wallets, possibly due to the decision to leave the crypto market.
The following is a graph showing the trend in Total Number of Owners for six popular digital assets: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), XRP (XRP), Cardano (ADA), Dogecoin (DOGE), and Chainlink (LINK):

Data analysis
In the graph above, it can be seen that Chainlink is the only cryptocurrency on this list that registered a negative change in the total number of holders. The number of LINK holders fell by 3,300 or 0.5% compared to the beginning of the year.
Looking at real numbers, Ethereum registered the biggest growth with 645,000 new investors joining the network. The ETH user base is huge, so this spike is only equivalent to a 0.5% increase.
Bitcoin came in second place with 102,000 new balance addresses appearing on the network, while XRP took third place with 58,000.
Although the XRP numbers may look smaller, the situation is opposite to ETH: the size of the base of XRP holders means that they represent a 1% growth for that blockchain, which making the total number of XRP Holder Count uptrend steeper than any other.
The metric spike that XRP has seen this year so far is just a continuation of the trend seen at the end of 2024. This shows that this asset has recently been widely adopted, with investor inflows are increasing with no sign of slowing down.
The other two assets on the list, Dogecoin and Cardano, recorded changes in Total Owner Account of 29,000 and 2,800 respectively.
