Premier League leaders Liverpool return to pull back at Nottingham Forest but Man City let the lead slip away at Brentford.
Nottingham Forest showed their unlikely Premier League title credentials with holding Liverpool to a 1-1 drawbacking up their win over the leaders earlier in the season.
He took a Diogo Jota header from a corner in the 66th minute to earn a point for Liverpool who maintained their six-point cushion over second-placed Forest in their improbable bid for Champions League qualification Champions – and maybe more.
Forest remain the only side to have beaten Liverpool in the league this season – at Anfield in September – and were looking to record an unlikely home-and-away double over Arne Slott's side from after leading scorer Chris Wood scored in the eighth minute.
Liverpool later increased the pressure but again failed to beat Forest, who started the season more likely to be in a relegation battle than competing for the title.
More wishes for Man City, the Premier League champion
Manchester City showed more sweat in the game as they squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Brentford.
City conceded in the 82nd minute and again two minutes later as Phil Foden scored twice for the struggling champions, who are battling to just qualify for the Champions League this season.
Before winning their last two league games against Leicester and West Ham, City had won just one of nine to drop out of the Champions League qualification positions. During that poor run, City conceded two late goals to lose to Manchester United while also blowing a three-goal lead late in a 3-3 draw against Feyenoord in the Champions League.
Yoane Wissa and Christian Norgaard scored for Brentford to leave City in sixth place.
Chelsea struggling for a home draw with Bournemouth
Chelsea salvaged a 2-2 home draw against Bournemouth thanks to a Reece James free-kick in the fifth minute of stoppage time but saw their league winless run extend to five games.
Cole Palmer put Chelsea ahead with a neat finish in the 13th minute for his 14th goal of the season, only for Bournemouth to respond as Antoine Semenyo won a penalty – converted by Justin Kluivert – and completed promotion in the 68th .
Chelsea stayed in fourth place – at least until fifth-placed Newcastle play on Wednesday. Graham Potter got his first win as West Ham manager as his new side beat Fulham 3-2.
Carlos Soler and Tomas Soucek scored in the first half before Lucas Paqueta grabbed the third for West Ham, who brought in Potter last week to replace the fired Julen Lopetegui.
Potter's first game in charge was the defeat of Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Friday. Alex Iwobi scored for Fulham to make it 2-1 and then 3-2. West Ham moved 10 points clear of the relegation zone with victory.
