A popular but unofficial Trump-linked X account posted several dubious crypto tokens, including $POWER, as part of a scheme to lure investors who want to send money to in on the Trump hype and the president's return to the White House.
Hacks and scams have become particularly prominent with the rise of fake crypto projects linked to politicians after the 47th US President launched a family of tokens a day before the inauguration.

Pump and dump $ POWER
Evilcos, the founder of SlowMist, mentioned in a post that the unofficial Trump-related account (@TrumpDailyPosts) promoted the $POWER project. However, the project was pulled roughly and the posts were deleted from the profile.
The founder SlowMist revealed that the gas source of the scammer's address (starting with 4GwVi8) and the gas source of the meme posted to the MetaMask co-founder's account that was hacked earlier today are both from SideShift. Evilcos pointed out that he was not sure if this was a premeditated group that took advantage of the situation to cause chaos and gain benefits.
MetaMask addressed the situation and accepted that Dan Finlay's Farcaster account had been compromised and used to promote memecoin. Their team is in contact with their Farcaster team to help investigate what happened. He suggested that the bad actors in the market are trying to take advantage of the FOMO. Users are asked to verify any claims before making a deposit.
Scam Sniffer, a Web3 anti-scam platform, reported that the X @TrumpDailyPosts account was hacked and that the attackers were promoting fake memecoins. They promoted signs like $POWER, $FINN, and $WIN in Trump's name. He said the hackers were posting and deleting content related to the scam to avoid detection.
He also confirmed that the gas source for the fake $POWER token on the platform was involved in the Farcaster account recently. The scammers follow a pattern of targeting high-profile accounts to pump fake projects. The MetaMask co-founder reportedly hacked the hackers over 1,000 SOL.
