Keep calm, casual, because comic book moviegoers DC developing a special opening for the Elseworlds film to make it clear what it is and what it isn't.
With DC choosing to have a main canon universe with the option for unrelated Elseworlds movies, it's understandable that some of the audience might be a little confused as to what it is and what it isn't. You can't expect everyone to be as nerdy as we all are, keeping up with what's coming and going DCU in such a moment. Plus, it looks like the DCU will finally get its own Batman apart from Robert Pattinson, and I'm sure that will make at least a few people go “Hey what happened to Edward?” Fortunately for this subgroup of people, DC Studio Co-director James Gunn has made it clear that the Elseworlds films will have their own special opening.

In response to a fan on Threads, who asked why shows like Harley Quinn and The Penguin don't use the DC Studios logo if they are now technically DC Studios shows. “All DC television and film projects are now under DC Studios,” Gunn explained. “Since Harley Quinn was developed long before us we didn't think it was fair to put the DC Studio fanfare on there. On Penguin, which we had a small hand in developing, We have a different DC Studios animation at the end.” Gunn then noted that they are “currently working on the DC Studios Elseworlds opening,” meaning it will be pretty clear what you're in for as soon as the movie starts (going on anyway).

It looks like the first project to use that new opening is coming up The Batman: Part 2though it was now delayed for a second time all the way to 2027. Fortunately, there will be actual DCU projects to tide us over while we wait, such as Gunn's Superman movie, which is coming out on July 11.
