Look, I know half the conversation around Marvel Rivals brought up by comparing it to its obvious inspiration, Overwatch 2 newbut sometimes it's hard to talk about much else when the NetEase developer keeps copying Overwatch 2 newand homework and making some effort to hide it. This is not only true when you compare the general structures of the games and various hero tools, but now it is also very evident in Competitors' new seasonal events. The Spring Festival starts on Thursday, January 23, and it's basically a reunion OverwatchLunar New Year and Lucioball events.
Spring Festival will include three skins – one for Star-Lord, Iron Fistand Black Widow – as well as a new mode called Clash of Dancing Lions which is like 3v3 football, similar to Lucioball. Each skin includes nods to traditional Chinese clothing, and the event includes imagery appropriate for the Chinese New Year celebration which, this year, lands on January 29. NetEase is a Chinese company so it makes sense that the holidays would be celebrated in -game, but with the constant heat Marvel Rivals getting for being derivative of OverwatchI'm surprised that the celebration looks so similar to what it is Overwatch has been doing since 2017. In the end, though, it probably doesn't matter Marvel Rivals has been eating Overwatchin his lunch so late. According to the description, Star-Lord cosmetics will be earned as free rewards rather than something you have to pay for in the store. I'll stick with Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 one I bought, but thanks for the small meal.
All this is happening in the middle Marvel Rivals' Season 1which has added two Fantastic Four heroes so far and will include the others in future updates. For now, I'm swinging my elastic arms around like Mister Fantastic and picking up kills despite everyone trying to tell me to he is one of the worst characters in the game. A matter of skill.
