A new update on recent feedback about the current state of the game covering a number of issues, including the quantity and quality of prizes. “One of the main problems that players have felt is that the game is not rewarding enough,” the team at Grinding Gear Games writes. “This is an area that we need to very careful when we change because it is very difficult to reduce drops if we increase them too much.”
To address these concerns without succumbing to inflation, the devs are responding in a couple of ways. The first is to improve rare monster rewards by increasing the rarity bonus for each modifier and the total number of modifiers commonly encountered on these enemies, especially as players scale through the game. Similar changes to map mods make them more beneficial for getting better rewards as well.
A handful of currencies are also getting buffed. Regal orb drop rates will be increased by 40 percent, Lesser Jewelers orbs drop rates will be increased by 33 percent, and Gemcutter's Prism drop rates will be increased by 500 percent, along with other tweaks. But perhaps the most important change is the addition of “unlucky” drop protection. That means a cap on unique monster drops until no more than 50 percent of them are gold, and ensures that Act and Map bosses drop at least 1 rare per encounter.
Making The path of exile 2 more generosity is going over well with players, but the devs are also responding to another big complaint: being caught too often by enemies. Calls for dodge roll invincibility frames or other ways of reducing the gathering of enemies around them, sort of. Dodge rolls now allow us to squeak through even the smallest crack in a crowd of enemies, and smaller enemies can now be pushed out of the way when dodging. “This should lead to less frequent locking,” the team writes.
The path of exile 2 launched into its Early Access on December 6, and it has got some major nerfsahead of the newly announced loot changes.
