Hoskinson judges the WST Project Blockchain selection process

  • Hoskinson criticizes the WST project for excluding XRP, which he believes could have increased liquidity.
  • The transition of the WST project from multichain to Ethereum is limited to blockchain options and innovation.
  • Hoskinson wants more transparency and fairness in future blockchain election processes.

Charles Hoskinson criticized the blockchain selection process for the Wyoming Stablecoin (WST) project, saying it unfairly eliminated several blockchain projects, including XRP.

Hoskinson said that XRP was left out of the process, which he believes led to a loss of liquidity for the XRP Ledger. His comments responded to statements made by crypto influencer Ben Armstrong, who fueled a debate about the WST project's blockchain selection.

XRP Lost Opportunity

Hoskinson said Ripple's XRP could have benefited from its involvement in the WST project. He argued that the project would have given the XRP Ledger a valuable liquidity boost.

Hoskinson saw Ripple's involvement with the RLUSD stablecoin as a great opportunity. He said that the participation of Ripple could have led to the production of millions of dollars in stable, increasing liquidity on major exchanges and strengthening the presence of XRP.

However, the WST project chose Circle, overlooking Ripple's offer. Hoskinson believes that XRP's capabilities would have been showcased on a larger scale if it had been allowed to participate.

Allegations of Bias

Hoskinson criticized the exclusion of Cardano, XRP, and Bitcoin from the blockchain selection process. He sees this as a need for greater equity and inclusion in blockchain adoption.

Hoskinson suggests that limiting the options to only certain blocks reduces competition and innovation. The founder of Cardano has called for more transparency and openness in future blockchain initiatives, arguing that allowing several blockchain projects to demonstrate their capabilities would improve the entire crypto industry.

Shifting Focus: The WST Project's Multichain Resolution

Hoskinson also said that the WST project, which was seen as a multi-chain solution to compete with offers from Circle and Tether, had moved in. According to Hoskinson, the involvement of Anthony Apollo made the project focus on Ethereum, abandoning its original multi-language goal.

This change, he says, resulted in a more opaque evaluation process, which prevented the opportunity for other blockchain projects to present prototypes.

Despite the difficulties, Hoskinson acknowledged Ripple's success in obtaining NYDFS approval for its RLUSD stablecoin. While this was a step forward for Ripple, he said it could not compensate for the lost opportunity in Wyoming.
