Police investigating Wednesday's fatal shooting United Health Care CEO Brian Thomson now believe that the man connected with the killing traveled to New York City on a Gray bus from Atlanta two weeks ago, NBC News reported Thursday night.
Investigators are trying to find a name for the unidentified suspect from ticket purchases for the tour, which ended in New York at around 9pm ET on November 24.
That arrival date was two days earlier United Health Organizationparent UnitedHealthcare, announced it would retain the annual investor conference in New York on December 4 – the same day a masked gunman killed the 50-year-old CEO Thompson as he was about to walk into that event at the Hilton Hotel in midtown Manhattan.
A Greyhound spokesperson said, “We are fully cooperating with authorities on this active investigation.
“As it is ongoing, we cannot comment further at this time,” said the spokesperson.
The bus angle in the investigation was revealed hours after the New York Police Department released two new photos showing what an NYPD spokesperson described as a “person of interest” who “wanted questions related to shooting” Wednesday morning.
The images were captured by cameras at a hostel on Manhattan's Upper West Side.
“The New York City Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in identifying the person featured in the newly contacted media who is wanted for questioning in connection with the murder below, ” the NYPD media affairs office said in a statement.

“We are fully cooperating with the NYPD and, as this is an active investigation, we are unable to comment at this time,” said a spokesperson for Hostelling International USA, which operates the hostel, to NBC News.
UnitedHealth Group, in a new statement Thursday night, said “While our hearts are broken, we are touched by the outpouring of kindness and support in the hours since this horrific crime happened.”
“So many patients, consumers, healthcare professionals, associations, government officials and other caring people have taken time out of their day to reach out. We are grateful, even as which we mourn,” said the company. “Our priorities are, first and foremost, to support Brian's family; ensure the safety of our employees; and to work with law enforcement to bring the perpetrator to justice.”
A statement posted to the door of the Thompson family home in Minnesota on Thursday said, “We are devastated to hear of the senseless killing of our beloved Brian.
“Brian was a very loving, generous, talented man who truly lived life to the fullest and touched so many lives,” the statement said. “Most importantly, Brian He was a very loving father to our two sons and we will miss him very much. We appreciate your sympathy and ask for complete privacy as our family moves through this difficult time.”

The shooter, who was wearing a backpack, fled the scene and rode a bicycle to nearby Central Park.
The NYPD also on Wednesday released surveillance footage from a nearby Starbucks store that showed the suspected shooter, who was wearing a mask or neck glue over his face at the time.
A $10,000 reward has been posted by the NYPD and Crime Stoppers for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Thompson's murder.
