Rain largely ruined the first day of the third Test between Australia and India in Brisbane with just 13.2 overs bowled.
Australian openers Usman Khawaja (19 not out from 47 balls) and Nathan McSweeney (4 or 33) guided the hosts to 28-0 after India won the toss and elected to bowl .
India seamer Akash Deep, who came into the side in place of Harshit Rana, refused to dismiss an lbw appeal against McSweeney, but there was no further scare for the hosts.
Only two spells could be played in the morning session and the game was abandoned for the day an hour before the scheduled closing time at The Gabba.
The start of the second day has been brought forward by half an hour to 9.50am (11.50pm UK and Ireland) with 98 overs to be bowled, although more rain is expected.
Series locked at 1-1 after two tests
Australia beat India by 10 wickets in the second day-night Test last week in Adelaide to level the five-match series at 1-1, after the tourists won the first Perth won by 295 runs.
India need to win at least two of their last three Tests in Australia – other matches are in Melbourne and Sydney – to reach the World Test Championship final at Lord's next summer.
Australia reached the final with at least two more wins against India.
Australia recalled Josh Hazlewood again for the Brisbane Test – the 33-year-old missed the game in Adelaide with a side problem – with Scott Boland the man dropped.
India replaced Ravichandran Ashwin with another off-spinner Ravindra Jadeja as well as selecting Deep instead of Rana.
