Some of you may have noticed that Ciri feels a little different in the first trailer for The Witcher 4and as it turns out, it is because she has been redesigned.
Earlier this week at The Game Awards, Red CD project offered a first take a look at what The Witcher 4 could be like with a cinematic trailer, and more importantly, a revelation that yes, Ciri is the new protagonist of the series, something the devs said was “the natural choice“It was a nice trailer, although considering it was only in production last month, it's pretty clear this was just a heightened version of CD Projekt Red saying “yeah, yeah we are working on it and this is pretty much it. One thing you may have noticed, however, is that Ciri feels a little different, with some fans thinking the character has been redesigned. As it happened, she has, with CD Projekt giving an opinion on the change to TheGamer.

According to the developer, “Cira Berkeley was cast as Ciri for The Witcher IV Cinematic Reveal Trailer.” The statement goes on to say “Ciara is a talented actress who has impressed us with her enthusiasm and voice acting skills, and in this trailer we believe she gave -Ciri really comes to life in a way that is both true to the character and exciting for fans of the series.” It should be noted that CD Projekt later clarified that Berkeley will voice Ciri in the game as well, not just the trailer, taking over the role of Jo Wyatt.
The reason why Wyatt was redesigned was not shared, so sorry for those of you who will miss her, but Berkeley sounds pretty good from what little we hear about her in the trailer anyway. Now begins the long wait for the full thing!
