ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – A brief brush with an area of partly high pressure will clear the skies for the rest of the night. However, waiting in the wings is another low pressure to drag along with a cold Arctic front that will bring in some rain at first and eventually a dusting of snow. Wednesday afternoon and overnight, a weak clipper system will move into the Twin Tiers Friday. After that high pressure continues into the weekend.
Before the heavy and thick Arctic air returns to the Twin Tiers so the temperatures feel more like the north pole, we will feel a little above average. Wednesday will be in the mid 40s, with nights in the low 30s. The temperatures will become more stable before the cold cold air moves in with overnight temperatures in the same numbers for us early next week.
Tonight in the low 30s, dry and cloudy. Then mid 40s with clouds to start with a long, light rain/snow mix.
