Several Arab states have welcomed the cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the announcement of hostages.
“With this news, a bloody chapter in the history of the Palestinian people, who suffered greatly under Israeli aggression, will come to an end,” said Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Lebanon's caretaker.
The United Arab Emirates Foreign Ministry described the agreement as a way to ease the difficult conditions in Gaza. The ministry called on both sides to adhere to the agreement to end the suffering of Palestinian hostages and prisoners while stressing the urgent need to allow humanitarian aid into the closed coastal enclave.
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi emphasized the need for international action to address what he described as a humanitarian disaster caused by Israeli attacks. He reaffirmed Jordan's commitment to continuing humanitarian aid to those affected.
