Yesterday, BlackRock published a new video aimed at educating people interested in Bitcoin on the asset class.
The video is pretty good, honestly. I think they were inspired by Saifedean Ammous's book “The Bitcoin Standard,” which discusses the history of money from the beginning of time and how it has changed and grown throughout history.
Launched in January, IBIT has now topped $50 Billion in assets as investors increasingly use the ETP to effectively gain exposure to the price of bitcoin. But many investors are still relatively new to the digital asset space. For those who want to learn more about what bitcoin is… pic.twitter.com/8wh9CW0xYa

Seeing this kind of educational Bitcoin content from an $11.5 trillion asset manager is something I think their target audience will really enjoy.
Watching the video, there was one moment in particular that stood out to me. BlackRock clarified where Bitcoin is today and said, “Bitcoin is not seen as the radical idea it was 15 years ago. More than 500 million people worldwide now use digital currency, with more than 50% holding or investing in Bitcoin.”
That right there screams to me that Bitcoin is becoming recognized as a legit and established asset class in the eyes of the financial elite, and then finally as mainstream.
In the early days, Bitcoin was really a radical new idea that 99% of people probably couldn't conceptualize. However, over time, Bitcoin has been proven time and time again to be a legit asset and people are now interested in accepting this new type of currency. It feels like there has been a sincere paradigm shift and we are slowly, but surely, leaving the point in history where most people think it's a scam and bad is Bitcoin for any other generic FUD that has already been completely deleted.
With that said, I'm not saying that everyone is going to be a bitcoin maximalist or anything, but I think more and more people are accepting that Bitcoin is the here to stay and is not going anywhere. – which I would imagine will ultimately lead to people saying “Maybe I should have bitcoin then.”
This isn't just someone saying Bitcoin is going to be a legit asset, this is the world's largest asset manager. BlackRock is putting its reputation behind Bitcoin and building confidence in its long-term success. And so far it's been an amazing play with them adopting Bitcoin, with their spot Bitcoin ETF being the most successful ETF launch in history.
When they talk a lot about a potentially profitable investment, people listen. I think especially the wealthy and qualified investors were the first to notice and benefit from BlackRock's signals here. This will eventually be followed by retail investors.
I believe Bitcoin is about to enter a whole new paradigm unlike anything we've seen before.
