The latest product for the growing Toyota and Suzuki alliance will debut at the Brussels Motor Show in January.
Looking similar to the Suzuki eVX concept and the new e series production Vitara, the 4,285 mm long Urban Cruiser is a front or all-wheel drive SUV. It will be exported from Suzuki's Hansalpur plant in Gujarat to Toyota Motor Europe markets.
TME notes a choice of 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery packs, the new model providing an electric alternative to the existing Yaris Cross Hybrid in the B / C segments.
One or two motors and up to 300 Nm
The e-Vitara and Urban Cruiser share not only a 2,700 mm wheelbase and architecture – Suzuki's new Heartect-e, but a production line as well.
In FWD form, there is a 106 kW motor for cars with the 49 kWh battery and a 128 kW motor when the 61 kWh battery is specified. Torque is 189 Nm for both. Results for the AWD Urban Cruiser are 135 kW and 300 Nm, and the second motor is located on the rear axle.
Sales in left and right European markets are expected to begin in the third quarter of next year.
