Now, with the Liberals in disarray, the NDP says it is cutting bait.
The leader of the NDP, Jagmeet Singh, said that his party will vote to defeat the Liberal government.
That means, barring a miraculous turn from other parties, we will have an election before the October deadline.
Now there are some moving parts here because parliament is on a six week recess and Justin Trudeau can quit and then the Liberals could try to delay it by holding a leadership conference. All told, that could take until June.
We may know later what Trudeau's plans are as a cabinet shuffle is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. ET.
