China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced plans to introduce new growth initiatives for 10 key industries while expanding support for key business districts and cities, officials said Tuesday.
The targeted industries include steel, non-ferrous metals, petrochemicals, chemicals, construction materials, machinery, automobiles, power equipment, light industry, and electronics.
According to the MIIT, these sectors together contribute about 70% of the added value of business from enterprises above a specified scale.
Zhang Yunming, vice-minister of the MIIT, also promised to increase support for major industrial areas and cities:
- “It will develop policies and mechanisms to promote the orderly movement of businesses, support regions in developing and expanding their specialized and competitive sectors, and contribute more to the economic growth of business,”
