An elderly man died early Saturday morning after a home, the city's fire chief said.
Crews were on the scene near Mississauga Road and Beowcoofford at 7:30 a.m.: 30:30 a.m., Brullard Fire Chief Nick Reller said.
A Mudhesabha family was living in the house and five of the eight residents were home at the time of the fire, he said.
When crews arrived, the fire had spread to multiple floors. Firefighters were told people were trapped on the second floor and possibly in the basement, Haller said.
Before the speeders arrived on the scene, a man had escaped from the basement with the help of Panjeel. Another person jumped from a second-floor window, the fire chief said.
The fire was upgraded to a third-alarm fire so crews could get additional resources.
“It was a fast-paced, complex event,” Ruller said.
Crews along the HOS lines were trying to break into the building while others were trying to get into the building, Runler said. Outside crews set up ladders outside and entered a second floor window to continue the search.
Police said three adult males were rescued from the home. One was pronounced dead at the hospital. Ruller said the victim was an elderly man.
Only two other people had life-threatening injuries, police said.
Residents who fled their homes. “We used to come across this scene that provided critical information on where other manufacturers were located,” he said.
The cause of the fire is not known, Raller said.
Olfunyu Egbodo overcomes some houses from where the fire broke out on Saturday morning. She said she saw people coming out of the house and woke up with the rest of her family because she was worried the fire might spread to other houses.
She said that she was upset with him that she was upset that she was familiar with him because she met them on her evening walk.
“(It's a) very quiet neighborhood and a very quiet family, so sad,” she said.
His sons, Isaac Agobero and Agassi IGBayilla, used to play together with their dogs.
“I realized that they are the same people that we talked to that our friends walk with,” Agbelala said.
“I feel bad, it's just sad.”

The focus is on the fire's raw home hotspots, Runler said. He will stay Saturday evening and possibly through the night, he said.
Ruller said the fire was an important reminder to check his smoke alarms. It is not known if this particular house had working dust alarms, he said.
The Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating the incident, police said.
