Police are investigating after an excavator was used to break into a North York bank and steal an ATM on Tuesday morning.

Police said they responded to a report of an excavator being vandalized in front of the TD Bank in the area of ​​Bathurst Street and Lawrence Avenue W around 4:30 a.m.

An ATM with an unknown amount of cash was stolen from the institution, police said.

The building was heavily damaged and the excavator was left at the scene.
