Free the ox it's one of my favorite games ever. His strong combination of natural, banter-y conversation and a spooky podcast-like story clicked strongly for me, drawing me completely into his secret narrative. Special radio signals, ghostly sightings, and a time and place of misbehavior, all experienced through the eyes of some oral teenagers taking one last fling before starting college. I couldn't recommend it to enough people.
Then in 2023, a sequel came out, and I didn't play it. I didn't want to play it. I think because I was afraid he wouldn't be able to get that moment back, and that moment had been perfect. Also, since the interim game of the developer Night School, 2019's After partyit didn't work for me at all. But I've stopped being so stupid, and have been driven by the desire to play something that was lyrically strong while I was on a short vacation this holiday, but just equipped with my Android tablet, I remembered. Oxenfree II comes as part of Netflix's active subsidiary. And it's great! he is really great! It makes more mistakes than the original, parts of the story that don't quite add up as they should (probably because of the choices I made, it doesn't really explain why the two main character embarrassed by the teenage Olivia), but it again benefits from amazing voice performances and an interesting story (if unbelievable – radios don't work like that!). I'm very close to the end, and I'm looking forward to finally finding out how it ends. – Iain Mac A Coish
