No word has been given on how the upcoming winter weather will affect students heading back to school after winter break, but Fort Worth ISD already has a plan to regarding winter weather.
The National Weather Service Fort Worth is monitoring a cold front that brings arctic air to the department on Sunday, January 5, and into the following week. High temperatures are expected to be in the 40s, with lows in the 20s and a low chance of wintry precipitation.
On the Fort Worth ISD website, the district has laid out a plan for how to deal with possible winter weather and how parents can stay up-to-date on delays or cancellations. Here's what you know.

How Fort Worth ISD determines class delays or cancellations
Fort Worth ISD begins evaluating any school delays or cancellations at least 24 hours in advance of any approaching storm.
The process is a multi-team effort and includes district leadership, operations, emergency management, transportation, security and communications. The goal is to make a decision on a school delay or cancellation no later than 5 a.m., the district said.
Ultimately, the Head of Area Operations will speak to the senior manager, who will then make the final decision.
If school is delayed or cancelled, notifications will be sent immediately through the following channels:

Fort Worth ISD social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

On the local EdTV channel (Charter Cable Channel 30 and AT&T U-verse Channel 99)

Calls will be forwarded to local radio, television and newspaper outlets
Weatherproof area maintenance team
Ahead of possible winter weather, Fort Worth ISD said it is sending maintenance crews across the district to weatherproof more than 200 facility structures.
Crews are going to override temperature controls to keep schools warm around the clock, in case of a power outage. Also, maintenance crews are shutting off irrigation systems and all cooling towers are being drained to prevent freezing, the district said.
