The team released the first version of their creation on December 25, and it looks pretty bad. Basically, the group has tried to completely recreate Liberty City as it is in GTA IV, with a fully functional subway system, working police, and environmental traffic.
If you download the current version of the mod – which is still a work in progress – for GTA 5 single player, LC is a separate map from San Andreas that you can take a plane out to during my soul, while the mutiplayer version for FiveM replaces Los Santos due to “due to limitations”.
While the “map, vehicles, pedestrians, interior, environment, radio stations and much more” are all designed to mirror what you'll remember playing as Niko, Luis, and Johnny (even down to classic Easter eggs as the image of happiness. beating heart), the team has also put in some work to ensure that the environment does not look too dark compared to LS on hardware today, through portfolio HD texture optional.
There's also been some effort made to make Liberty City feel a lot more dynamic than it did back in the day, by adding in extra scenarios and details that you can run into while you're at it. checking, such as pedestrians getting a parking ticket. On the other hand, some AI upscaling has been used to help deliver textures, and it appearance some of that might break your immersion a bit if you look at it too long – or for more than two seconds.
The team behind the mod – you can get hold of it World Travel's Discord server – told RockstarIntel that they were really on the fence at first about releasing it to the public, due to fear of a possible DMCA action from Rockstar, who have a history of do similar things to GTA mods. However, the group hopes that the developer has changed its approach since then gets Cfx.re modding team – the people behind the role-playing mods FiveM and RedM.
It will be interesting to see how things play out, but in the meantime, the LC Conservation Project is an interesting thing for GTA leaders to consider looking into.
