I have a fierce love-hate relationship with it TCG pokemon game. It is, without a doubt, my favorite mobile game released this year. It's a wonderful game, taking a picture out of the physical TCG and turning it into this easy virtual collection. It has also brought out a side of me that I thought had died when I turned 21 years old. I am angry, with a visceral hatred of foreigners all over the world.
Pokemon TCG Pocket gets me up at 2AM on a regular basis, at an age where that's not so appealing. I go to bed embarrassed, and wake up with the ghost that still haunts me. Drinking coffee on a beautiful morning thinking about Mewtwo EX decks, and how obviously those who play them carry them. This is not a sign of a bad game. The complete opposite. Only a very good game requires such an emotional investment.

A while ago we wrote about it as the game required a type of competitive gamesomehow try your strength against other pokemon trainers around the world. Since then, the game has featured something that isn't quite what we wanted, but got competitive juices flowing nonetheless. First, a basic PvP mode that rewarded players for winning. Just a few weeks ago, a similar method required continuous winning. This last one failed me.
It's the perfect mode to highlight the highs and lows of the meta, but it also encourages a community-wide push to build the best deck before new cards come around and shuffle again. A celebration of the 1.0 winners of the games, if you were. The greedy Charizard EX deckthe evil Mewtwo EX deckthe devil Starmie / Articuno EX plus Misty deck. As of writing we recently got a new core PvP event with the Mythical Island pack, which means all these doozy's in addition to the current Deck of the Month: I marked EX back and gives migraines.
The developers really deserve the success they are getting. Sure, the Pokemon IP and card game is a lot of work in terms of popularity, but they've managed to make a game that appeals to players of all skill levels, while appearing in mini events the here and there to keep those with more. specific priorities of interest. I think that's the best way to explain why so many people still break packages open. It is complimentary.
With new cards on the way, I can safely say that this game is pretty badass. I subscribed to the premium free trial pass back when it first came out (another smart move by the way), and I don't see myself ever turning that sub off be soon. In my mind, it's money well earned. How else do I have the cards to beat the top decks in a pitch black room in the wee hours of the morning?
