This is according to the Standing Committee of the NPC, as announced yesterday. For now, the agenda is said to include “a review of the government's work report, and an examination of the report on the implementation of the annual plan on national economic and social development for 2024 and the draft plan on national economic and social development for 2025”.
In addition, there will be the usual budget discussions for both central government and local councils.
This is usually the biggest political event in China because it not only declares their goals and targets for the year, but also describes their intention to achieve them. This will see lawmakers and politicians all gather in Beijing to sort out these economic and social issues.
The political event will last about two weeks. However, expect plenty of commentary to follow when we kick things off in early March next year.
