If you can believe it, Lords of the Fallen is still receiving patches that change its combat several months after launch

Remember Lords of the Old Women? Not the original 2014 game, the sequel that came out last October and it was very controversial. The game's developer, Hexworks, never stopped working on it.

Very soon after the launch, patches started arriving to address some severe stuttering and performance problemsand fix some critical bugs. Once most of that work was over, Hexworks he turned his attention to some of the main issues in combat, difficulty, and progress.

The developer changed a lot, in fact, it ended giving players tools to balance the game to a large extentbut what we all thought was the last game of the game ended up being another in a long list of them.

Just days ago, Lords of the Fallen received its 1.7 update. While a smaller patch that added support for the PS5 Pro has been released before, 1.7 is one of the most gameplay-changing patches the game has received.

Now, more than a year from the moment Lords of the Fallen first arrived, the developer is once again trying to change the feel of the game. Specifically, the patch improves character control and responsiveness in combat by tweaking animations to allow for invincibility frames, more accurate dodges/rolls, and even more accurate kill animations.

Hexoworks said the goal of the update is to make the game more accessible to new players, while also raising the skill ceiling for veterans who know what they're doing.

Is heavy armor going to feel so weird now?

This patch also comes with a couple of quality of life tweaks of its own, including the ability for your character to automatically collect vitality, and balance tweaks to New Game Plus. Another feature that new players should be aware of is that they are able to summon NPCs in boss fights on the first try, and they are going to be more effective as well.

Even more surprising is that it looks like 1.7 isn't the end of the road for Lords of the Fallen, either. In spite sequence confirmedit looks like more work will continue to go into the current game. If the changes in the new update surprise you, the game is currently 60% off on Steamuntil December 19.
