Daniel Dubois has been called the “full package” capable of leading a time of destruction in the heavyweight division.
Dubois is preparing for the next defense of his IBF world title against former world champion Joseph Parker in Riyadh on February 22.
Dubois knocked out Anthony Joshua to retain the IBF belt at Wembley in September but insists his reign will not be defined by his devastating power alone.
When asked if he wanted to be Mike Tyson in this era of heavyweight boxing, Dubois only said Sky Sports: “Do it in that kind of fashion, (yes). I'm going to be mine but do it in that destructive way.
“When I land and land properly, they usually fall. But I'm not going straight off the power punch. You need a lot more than that. You need skill, determination, heart and a wide variety of different things.
“I'm pretty much the full package of what I'm about right now. I can't wait to get back in the mix… Let the whole circus start again and let's do ready to go back again.
“(It's) back-to-back big fights for me now. Joseph Parker is the first guy on my hit list … I'm not overlooking him; I'm not underestimating him and I don't estimate it either.
“I'm just getting ready, ready to destroy. Destroy and destroy and do my thing.”
Dubois defeated Filip Hrgovic to become the interim IBF champion in June and was promoted to full world champion when Oleksandr Usyk's rematch with Tyson Fury was confirmed to have made the Ukrainian undisputed leave that belt.
Joshua's devastating stoppage only underlined Dubois' credentials as a world champion and the 27-year-old believes we are now at the dawn of his era.
“You need to put some respect on my name!” Dubois added. “I proved you wrong there, and I'm going to continue to do it. I'm number one now.
“At the time I felt that this (Joshua's victory) is very big. He has opened the door for me… I am going to continue to rule like a champ.
“From a small child when we started as a small boy, going to all the amateur clubs, with my father taking me everywhere, doing all the work, now me at the top of the game. It's a life's work.”
As for what Dubois' brand of control would look like, after the successful defense against Parker he is focused on doing exactly what has distinguished him from the rest throughout history – fight and defeat on the leading fighters of his generation.
From avenging his defeat against Usyk to his first competitive match against Fury, who he has been sparring with before, Dubois is enthusiastic about seeing his rivals.
“They need to put me back in the ring with these guys,” he said. “Let me get at them now, now I'm ready for them.”
“Before I made a few mistakes, but I feel ready now to be the top dog, the top dog in the division. “
Regarding Fury's sparring, Dubois continued: “I was still green at the time, still getting into the game, now I'm a world champion, it's the right time for me the top guys to undertake that.
“Mike Tyson did it, he fought the best of his time, his era. Muhammad Ali, all the great fighters did it for the glory and everything that comes with it.
