Ten people are killed in an Israeli attack on a house in Gaza City and the US says that talks are continuing on a cease-fire in Gaza.
At least 14 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes across Gaza this morning, including 10 when Israeli fighter jets bombing of a residential building in Gaza Cityamid reports of ceasefire talks moving closer to an agreement.
The attack in Gaza City targeted the home of the Tabatibi family in the Daraj district. Pictures showed fires burning after the attack and rescuers searching for survivors among the rubble.
Local media reported that the family had fled the house, which was located in the eastern part of Gaza City.
Al Jazeera's Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza, said the house was targeted without any prior warning.
“Civil Defense workers confirmed that most of the bodies were cut into pieces,” Abu Azzoum said.
This morning, Al Jazeera correspondents on the ground also reported fighting in the Rafah al-Janina area as well as Israeli helicopters firing east of southern Gaza City.
At the same time, the World Health Organization (WHO) called for a ceasefire while warning of a “terrible” situation in one of the only operational hospitals in northern Gaza.
“The conditions in the hospital are just terrible,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said of the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya, a city that is seeing intense attacks by the Israeli military. “We urge you to protect health care and let this hell stop! Non-stop fire!”
WHO and partners arrived at the facility “two days ago, amid hostilities and explosions near the hospital during the mission,” Tedros said in a post on X, after efforts to bring needed supplies to was blocked again by the Israeli army.
The mission reached the hospital on November 30 after weeks of unsuccessful attempts, but days later it was had to escape amid attacks and hostility around the facility.
Hussam Abu Safia, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, said Israeli spies also attacked the hospital's intensive care unit.
“This development is very serious and something new for us,” he said. “We cannot stay in this place which is going to provide ICU services. At the same time, we cannot evacuate and move to another place .”
