Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition government has approved the ceasefire and hostilities agreement with the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, following earlier support from the Security Cabinet.
After hours of deliberation, the Israeli government voted for the agreement with Hamas, Netanyahu's office announced early Saturday.
The decision was expected despite the opposition of some far-right ministers.
The government meeting began later than expected and extended into the Jewish Sabbath, which began late Friday afternoon.
After the government's decision, opponents can appeal to the Supreme Court of Justice. However, the court is unlikely to intervene.
The ceasefire is expected to start on Sunday at 1015 GMT.
