Just in case you had any hope that the horror series wasn't dead, EA said no to Dead Space 4 from the original co-creator

For a while there, it seemed like EA was jealous of Capcom's huge success with it Resident Evil redo. The publisher had a terrible franchise of his own lying dormant, so he decided to do something with it.

Out of that short campaign, we got a remake of the first one A dead place which expanded the original narrative, updated the gameplay and brought the visuals up to today's standards. A remake of its follow-up, Dead Space 2, was the next logical step. Except, of course, that never happened.

In fact, forces within EAand the remake's developer, Motive, wanted to continue working on Dead Space, but EA reportedly gave up on that and decided to put the series back on ice.

And just now, we find out that EA is really serious about that plan to pretend that Dead Space doesn't exist. According to co-creator Glen Schofield, the company rejected a new pitch for Dead Space 4 that he made for them.

Schofield, a veteran of the games industry, appeared in a long and extensive interview with Dan Allen Games that he, Bret Robbins, and Christopher Stone were part of the pitch. According to Schofield, EA wasn't even interested in hearing the entire pitch.

“We didn't go too deep,” revealed Schofield. “They just said 'We're not interested at the moment, we value blah blah blah' and we know who to talk to, so we didn't take it any further.

Schofield said he understood why EA didn't let them go through, suggesting it may have had something to do with the game's sales potential. This is especially relevant, as reports indicate that the Dead Space remake was not as successful as EA had hoped, which is why the publisher changed from the original plan for the trilogy again -creation, and this is probably the reason why we don't see new dead. Place game for a while.

“We respect their opinions,” Schofield said. “They know their numbers and what they have to ship and everything, so…”

In a sense, Schofield did get to make a new Dead Space after the series' original team left EA. The former designer went on to direct The Callisto Protocola spiritual successor to the underachieving horror classic that received mediocre reviews from fans and critics, leading to his eventual departure from Striking Distance, the studio he co-founded.
