The Small Plan licensing effectively died earlier this year when Sony took down the servers for and later delisted LBP3. But a group of self-described “hobbyists” are working on it Replaceda game that will likely be just what some are sad about LBP followers are lost. And a new trailer for it arrived as a last minute Christmas present.
For those who are out of the loop, here is what has been happening to them Small Plan recently. (Spoilers, it's not good!) In 2021, the PS3 servers for 2014's Little Big Planet 3 They were shut down due to DDoS attacks. Then in January 2024, due to technical issues, the LBP3 PS4 servers have been taken down “temporarily.” However, in April, Sony announced that the servers were going to be permanently offline. Thousands of user-generated levels, including content created in previous games, were no longer playable. And then in OctoberSony announced that it was listing LBP3 and all DLC. It was a sad end for a once popular franchise. But a small indie team's new game might bring a happy ending after all.
Announced way back in 2020, Replaced is an upcoming PC game that looks very similar Small Plan. It features a stuffed teddy bear as its main character and allows players to create new levels and maps to share online through the Steam Workshop.

It is impossible not to notice how similar this game is to a Sony game Small Plan. According to Trixel Creative, the small team behind the project, they were fans LBP and many played it years ago. But Trixel Creative says Replaced it's not just about reinvention LBP on PC.
“Some may think we are inventing Replaced just to bring the same experience to the PC, but that couldn't be further from the truth,” the studio explained in its FAQ on the game website. “This genre of games is largely unexplored, and we love the concept so much that we think there's room to explore multiple titles!”
“Games like Small Plan has nurtured many creative minds and offered a way for all ages to realize their imaginations,” the FAQ continues. “We aim to make a game that does the same for PC players, albeit with our own unique innovations. We will always have great respect and admiration for the genre pioneer who is Small Planalong with his many talented developers.”
The devs also claim that this new game is not related to the fan remake Small Plan also known as “Restitched” which was canceled by Sony's lawyers in 2020. However, Trixel Creative was the team behind that projecttoo, and exactly how they are separated is not made clear on the team's website.
When Trixel Creative starts working on it Replaced in 2020, the LBP suffrage was on life support. Now, four years later, Sony has pulled the plug Small Planand Replaced this is probably the closest thing fans will get to a full-on series.
There is no release date yet Replaced and it looks like the game won't be arriving on consoles anytime soon. You can, however, be listed on Steam now.
