Mexican authorities found 11 hidden graves with 15 bodies near the Guatemalan border


TAPACHULA, Mexico (AP) – Eleven hidden graves containing the bodies of 15 men were located in the southern Mexican state of Chiapas, where riot between the Sinaloa and Jalisco Nueva Generación drug cartels is taking place, local authorities said Sunday.

Chiapas Gov. Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar on his social media channels that the decisions came as a result of an attack in the city of La Concordia, near Mexico in his end with Guatemala. He said that four people related to the case were arrested with weapons and drugs.

The state prosecutor's office said in a statement that the attack took place in two separate buildings. There were three bodies in three graves at the first site and in the second, eight graves with 12 bodies.

“It is worth mentioning that technological tools such as drones and geo-radars have been used for these operations, as well as aerial aircraft, ground investigation, field forensics, back digging and drills,” he said.

Chiapas Chief Prosecutor Jorge Luis Llaven Abarca said last week that another hidden grave with charred bodies was found in nearby Emiliano Zapata, La Concordia, but did not provide more details – information due to the poor condition of the bodies to identify them.

The dispute over drug routes, migrant trafficking and weapons has left more than 10,000 people dead has been dismissed in recent years, including Mexicans fleeing to Guatemala, according to reports from humanitarian organizations.
