Mithali Raj leaves Gujarat Titans ahead of WPL 2025 auction


Mithali Raj has parted ways with Gujarat Titans as a mentor and advisor ahead of the WPL auction 2025. After a disappointing performance in both the seasons, the former India captain entered a new venture as the Andhra Cricket Association management.

Mithali Raj left Gujarat Titans

Indian who was a cricketer and a leader, Mithali Raj stepped down as mentor and advisor to Gujarat Titans ahead of the WPL auction 2025. This decision came after the poor performance of the franchise in the last two seasons. Gujarat Titans have ended both their seasons by being at the bottom of the points table.

According to reports, Mithali Raj was signed for 3 years by the Gujarat Titans, but she parted ways earlier. Mithali Raj has now joined the Andhra Cricket Association as a mentor and advisor for women's cricket operations.

Coach changes in Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans bowling coach Nooshin Al Khadeer along with Mithali Raj has also opted not to renew her two-year contract. Nooshin plays a key role in developing young talents, now coaching India's Under-19 Women's team.

However, other coaching staff of Gujarat Titans, such as head coach Michael Klinger and fielding coach Carl Hopkinson will continue with their current roles.

WPL Auction 2025

The WPL 2025 auction is scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on 15 December 2024. A total of 120 players have been shortlisted, including 91 Indian players and 29 overseas cricketers. Among them are 9 restricted players, while the overseas division has 8 uncapped players.

With just 19 slots remaining across all franchises, including 5 for overseas players, teams will be looking to make smart purchases to strengthen their squads.

In November 2024, WPL teams announced the names of their reserved players. A total of 71 players were retained including 21 overseas players.
