Donkey Kong Country Returns HD It's finally here, but with the lifting of the review embargo, it seems that Nintendo has once again decided not to include the original developers in the credits of the game. Instead, the same development credits go to Forever Entertainment, who handled the modern port.
This was confirmed by centers like Nintendo Lifewhich published its findings as the review embargo lifted. Ollie Reynolds, a staff writer at Nintendo Life, noted that Retro Studios (the original developers of Donkey Kong Country Returns) were not present in the credits at all.

This is not the first time this has happened either. Back in 2023, the Metroid Prime Remaster was suddenly dropped on the Nintendo Switch with a new coat of paint. However, the original developers behind the game were left off the credits, which caused an outcry online. A bunch of original versions, including Jack Mathews, he went public to share his displeasure over the decision.
It seems the same thing has happened again, and Nintendo has no plans to change its stance. Even so, it's a tough move. At least put in a line thanking the original devs, c'mon. It's also an odd stain against the otherwise seemingly fine HD port. A shame.
