Welcome to January, 2025, folks. As the new year begins, so do the monthly updates from Sony about upcoming games PlayStation Plus' different levels. Our first is in 2025, with three major games that are (mostly) pretty good.
All games will be available starting Tuesday, January 7 for Premium, Extra, and Essential. You have until January 6 to claim the December lottery.

The PS Plus January Series consists of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered. Suicide Squad is the highest profile of the lot, of course, having now ended the service less than a month after its release.
Paying Suicide Squad: Eliminate the Justice League in February which began last year, according to most accounts, awesome way to start 2024. It's a bit interesting why Sony thinks it's a good idea to do that to start 2025, but there you go. As a current-gen-only release, Suicide Squad is only available on PS5.
Things could only get better from there, and boy do they. The excellent adventure, great documentary The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe do you play on PS4 and/or PS5. Ultra Deluxe is part sequel, part remake, part exercise in creative frustration. This was one of the best games of 2022, and it is definitely the best in this line.
Finally, for something a little more casual and a lot more intellectually stimulating, we have the PS4 version of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered (also playable on PS5) to relax after surviving the emotional roller coaster that the other two games provide. This is a remaster of the 2010 Criterion Games Pursuit, not the classic of 1998. It's a Criterion racing game, so you can count on satisfying arcade car handling, a sense of great speed, different actions to engage with, and a killer soundtrack.
