A pilot in Brazil had to make an emergency landing after a vulture crashed right through his cockpit's windshield. But miraculously, neither the pilot nor his five passengers were injured due to the a big bird.

The incident happened on December 5 in the Brazilian state of Amazonas, on a flight that had started from the town of Envira on the way to Eirunepé, in the western region of the country. Some horrifying pictures and video show the dead bird hanging from a large hole in the left side of the plane's windshield, with blood spread over the glass and shards of glass on the dashboard.

However, the pilot managed to land the plane calmly, despite being visibly shaken by the ordeal, even as wind rushed in from the hole, blowing through hair

For the Daily MailThe pilot can be heard saying in the video: “It was a close call! This is the fault of the landfill next to the airport, which attracts an unusual number of vultures to the area.” The local media also blamed the landfill for the -birds of prey that were scavenging to be a constant threat to planes flying into the airport.

One of the passengers said: “We thought we wouldn't get out alive. It was a miracle to land with that in front of the pilot.”

A similar incident occurred in Ecuador last year when a large bird believed to be an Andean Condor – a type of vulture native to parts of western South America –He fell through the windshield of a crop duster plane mid-air, the pilot's blood. In that situation, the pilot was able to land the plane safely.
