Charlie Woods birdied a hole-in-one at the PNC Championship – but it wasn't enough as Team Woods lost to Bernhard Langer and his son Jason in a playoff.
Bernhard birdied the first extra hole to successfully defend the title after both teams finished on 28 under par.
In the final round, Charles made history at the 175-yard par-three fourth at the Ritz-Carlton club.
Charlie didn't know his ball had gone in until a large greenside gallery started cheering, as did another group of fans on the other side of the hole, the majority some of them holding up their keyboards – some down to indicate that he had entered. the hole, some above to show his score.
Television cameras finally proved it to him. Tiger Woods gave his son a firm grip, then playfully shoved him away. “The first one,” said Charlie as cameras surrounded him.
“It was a perfect seven iron, so he just hit,” said Charlie as he approached the fourth green. “Down the left, cut seven. It was great. I didn't think he went in. I won't believe a man until I go up there and see him.”
Tiger then mocked him saying: “You are shopping. That's the protocol for a hole-in-one, but Charlie replied: “I'm broke.”
About 30 minutes later, Paddy Harrington – son of three-time major winner Padraig Harrington – made a hole-in-one on the eighth hole.
Despite the loss, Tiger and Charlie both remained in good spirits with the 15-year-old saying: “It was awesome, it's the most fun I've ever had and besides then i made an ace, i can't go up. that.”
Tiger said: “I'm just delighted with Charlie, nobody made a mistake today and we had to earn it.
The PNC, which features 20 major champions each playing with a family member, is Tiger Woods' first competitive event since undergoing back surgery in September.
Tiger and Charlie have been at the top of the field but have yet to win the championship. In 2021, the couple finished second behind John Daly and his son, John Daly II.

“That was unbelievable, it was perfect timing,” he said Sky Sports' Oliver Fisher.
“The perfect number, seven iron, just down the left, loved it from the moment he hit it and his dad wasn't with him.
“What a moment to miss but it was an incredible sight for Charlie. It's a great start and very relaxing for them.
“There is no feeling when you hit a shot on the tee and it actually goes into the hole. You can see that Charlie found the whole thing surreal and it's just an amazing time.
“Today was a big day, not only for Jason but also for Bernhard, going out with Tiger. It was neck and neck all day and we saw some great shots from everyone.”
