Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher assesses the controversial moments from the weekend's action, including Andy Robertson's red card in Liverpool's 2-2 home draw with Fulham.
Liverpool 2-2 Fulham
EVENT: Liverpool defender Andy Robertson is shown a red card after bringing down Harry Wilson for denying an obvious goal chance.
DERMOT says: “I've had many chances to watch this again and I didn't think it was a red card at the time, and I still don't.
“Robertson doesn't know it's coming, he miscontrols the ball and Wilson gets the ball. Does he have control of the ball? No. Is he going to get control of the ball? Very doubtful as the Liverpool player is going to get their first one.
“There are too many variables and the 'O' (in DOGSO – Denying a goal or an obvious chance to goal) stands for obvious and not possible.
“Then (Raul) Jimenez has a shot and the whistle goes when (Virgil) Van Dijk clears the ball so it adds a lot of problems.
“A better decision would have been a yellow card.
“If you are going to give a red card then you whistle because once you whistle you are in control of the situation. If he thinks it's a red card then just blow.
“If the referee had whistled immediately, everyone would have accepted that.”
Wolves 1-2 Ipswich
EVENT: An irate Rayan Ait-Nouri is shown a second yellow after the full-time whistle at Molineux before being dragged off the field, while Wolves team-mate Matheus Cunha is involved in an angry exchange with a member of the backline team Ipswich after the full game. whistle time
DERMOT says: “The pictures speak volumes and Craig Dawson is doing him (Ait-Nouri) a huge favor because he is so angry because it could have escalated to almost anything.
“Of course, the FA will be looking at this (Cunha's conflict) this morning. He poked the guy in the back of the head, then ripped off his glasses and it's not the reaction you'd expect from a player.
Man City 1-2 Man Utd
EVENT: Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund and Manchester City defender Kyle Walker went up, with both players booked.
DERMOT says: “It wasn't a good advert for football, you shouldn't be doing it (going down like Walker did).
“I thought the referee (Anthony Taylor) did well, he didn't get caught up in thinking it was something bigger than him.
yes, it was just a push. He was a player who dealt with pressure but we don't need that.”
EVENT: Manchester United miss a penalty after Hojlund goes down under a Ruben Dias challenge.
DERMOT says: “I still don't think it's a penalty, I really don't.
“The defender is going to play the ball, Hojlund sees it coming and goes over himself and it looks much worse in slow motion.
“I just think that Hojlund was happy to go down and is not interested in running after the ball.
Chelsea 2-1 Brentford
EVENT: Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella received a second yellow card and was sent off after the final whistle at Stamford Bridge.
DERMOT says: “At the end of the game, everyone was pushing and shoving, and Cucurella was adopting an aggressive attitude.
“He had only had a yellow card a minute before, so he should know better.”
Nottingham Forest 2-1 Aston Villa
EVENT: Aston Villa were denied a penalty after VAR ruled that Elliot Anderson's arm pulling on Morgan Rogers was a “quick grab”.
DERMOT says: “I think it's a foul (with Rogers on Anderson before he goes into the box) and he (Anderson) then grabs him going into the box.
“I think it's a penalty then but I think the best result here in terms of fairness is for the VAR to suggest to the referee to go to the monitor so that all options are open He would then have seen Rogers tear his (Anderson's) shirt immediately. his back and he can then give a free kick (to Wood).
“You have the same net result without penalty but people accept it better because that has happened.
EVENT: Nottingham Forest's winner against Aston Villa stands despite Matty Cash's possible foul play in the build-up.
DERMOT says: “It depends who you talk to, some people think it's cheating, some don't – what I would say is you can't fix football games.
“The referee has a good position and says it's not foul and play on and certainly not one for VAR – if you're interfering with that, you're going to be looking at it -all events on the field.
“I don't think it's a foul, I think he wins the ball. I don't think that's a clear and obvious mistake.”
