Sony's latest anime gamble is an adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, and it draws talent from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Star Wars: Visions, and Madoka Magica

Sony clearly there is a lot of faith Ghost of Tsushima as an IP, as in addition to that live-action movie, an anime has just been announced.

It looks like Sony is finally getting the gears going when it comes to expanding the world of Ghost of Tsushima. Just last September a sequel from Sucker Punch ProductionsGhost Yotei, was announced lastand that's currently set to arrive sometime in 2025 (obviously holding back a release date until Rockstar pushes ahead for those expected. Game GTA 6). Now, as announced at Sony's CES 2025 presentation, an anime adaptation is in the works, but not from Yotei, or even technically Tsushima – it's based on Legends, the multiplayer element of Tsushima that hasn't been released yet. talk less, and it comes to Crunchyroll. (another subsidiary owned by Sony).

The production comes in collaboration with Aniplex, one of Sony's subsidiaries, and a company that has overseen great titles such as Demon Slayer and Sword Art Online. It is directed by Takanobu Mizuno, who you may know as the director behind The Duel from the Star Wars Visions anime anthology series. General Urobuchi, a big name in the anime field having written both Psycho Pass and Madoka Magica, is on story duties, with studio Kamikaze Douga handling the animation; you'll have seen his work on Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, as he did those classic CG openings. He also did the animation for the Sandy land movie/series, so maybe we can bet on Legends as a CG series as well.

The Ghost of Tsushima anime wasn't the only announcement Sony made at CES either. For one, that Horizon zero dawn The Netflix show is completely dead in the water, as it were now getting a movie adaptation insteadand to start one of last year's biggest hits Helldivers 2 is getting the big screen treatment as well.

There's that Tsushima live action movie apparently on the way from director John Wick toobut there is no word on that front at this time.
