Europe will look to claim a historic Ryder Cup victory on American soil later this year, with 20 players hoping to join Luke Donald's squad in action this week in a special three-day team tournament.
The 'Team Cup' will see DP World Tour golfers from Great Britain and Ireland take on players from mainland Europe in a unique competition, which will be held at the Abu Dhabi Golf Center and live on Sky Sports Golf Friday.

What is the Team Cup?
The Team Cup is a team competition on the DP World Tour, where 10 players from Great Britain and Ireland play 10 from Continental Europe in a three day match event.
Both teams will be captained by Justin Rose and Francesco Molinari, with the event added to the DP World Tour schedule to give players more experience in Ryder Cup-style tournaments.
Donald selected the two teams, in consultation with the two captains, ahead of leading Team Europe against the United States in September's Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.
How did players qualify?
The top four players available from the Race to Dubai 2024 rankings were given their spots in each team, with five captain picks for each side named by Donald after the end-of-season DP World Tour Championship.
The final member of each side was then announced at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, the third event of the 2025 Race to Dubai, with both teams featuring a mix of former Ryder Cup players and some of the stars which arises from the DP World Tour.
Who plays for Great Britain and Ireland?
Tyrrell Hatton the only LIV golfer in action as he looks to make a fourth consecutive appearance in the Ryder Cup later this year, with Tommy Fleetwoodwinner of the HSBC Abu Dhabi Championship Paul Waring and Matt Wallace all automatically adjusted.
Northern Irish Tom Gibbons – earned dual PGA Tour membership – two-time DP World Tour winner Jordan Smith, Laurie Canter and Aaron Rai are part of the Rose line, with Matthew Jordan complete the Great Britain and Ireland team.
How about for Continental Europe?
Thorbjorn Olesenwho represented Europe at the 2018 Ryder Cup, as one of the four automatic qualifiers for Molinari's team, with Rasmus Højgaard, Niklas Nørgaard and Italian Matteo Manassero also get places through their Race to Dubai ranking.
Matthew Pavon – the first Frenchman to win on the PGA Tour in over 100 years – Antoine RoznerRyder Cup player Nicolai Hojgaard and Challenge Round No. 1 Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen feature, with Molinari as playing captain and Romain Langasque the final selection.
What shape is it?
Like the Ryder Cup, the Team Cup is a three-day playing team event featuring four balls, foursomes and singles, although the major difference is that all players play in the -every session.
The two 10-man teams will go head-to-head over one session of four balls on Friday and two sessions of foursomes on Saturday, with five games in each session and a maximum value of one point.
Foursomes sees two golfers from one team compete against a pair from the other team, with team members moving between shots and each team using one ball. Fourballs sees each player using their own ball, with the lowest score from each pair counting towards the score for their side.
All players then return for the singles on Sunday, with a total of 25 points up for grabs over the three days.
Who has won this event before?
The Team Cup – formerly known as the Heroes' Cup – was first played in January 2023, with Molinari leading Continental Europe to a 14½-10½ victory over a GB and Ireland team captained by Tommy Fleetwood.
The tournament shares similarities with the Seve Cup, named after Seve Ballesteros and held eight times between 2000 and 2013, who captained future Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie, Jose Maria Olazabal, Sir Nick Faldo, Paul McGinley and Thomas Bjorn.
What does this mean for the Ryder Cup?
Six players featuring in the 2023 edition of the event went on to represent Team Europe in the Ryder Cup later in the year, with Fleetwood – the playing captain for Great Britain and Ireland – claiming his ' point winner in the 16.5-11.5 victory over Team USA in Rome.
Shane Lowry and Hatton were both part of the Fleetwood squad, with Robert McIntyre ahead of his Ryder Cup debut, while Nicolai Hojgaard and Sepp Straka were both in the Great Line-up. the land of Europe.
A number of players involved in the Team Cup are likely to represent Team Europe in September in New York, where Donald's side look to claim their first away win from 'Miracle at Medinah' in 2012.

Sky Sports will be showing full live coverage of all three days of the event, the first in 2025 on the DP World Tour, with the live action starting on Friday from 7am on Sky Sports Golf.
Saturday's doubles session will start at 2.30am, immediately following the conclusion of the second round of the PGA Tour's Sony Open in Hawaii, while the second foursomes session is expected to be live from 7am.
