This week, France in Focus goes underground to explore the prehistoric “Sistine Chapel”. Thirty years ago, three explorers discovered the Chauvet cave, a site in the south-east of France that had been cut off from the world for thousands of years. Inside, paintings and carvings dating back 36,000 years adorn the walls. The site is sealed off to the public, but every year a team of scientists go in to try to find out what life was like at the time. FRANCE 24's Jon Walsh and Joanna Cockerell report.
