At tonight's Game Awards aka Geoff Keighley's trailer-thon (that's also a game awards show), Ico and Shadow of the Colossus creator Fumito Ueda showed a small glimpse of an untitled sci-fi game featuring a giant mech, an ominous cloud of dark energy, and a person in a cool space suit.

Here's the short teaser, featuring an ominous countdown and some stunning footage. Apparently this is a real game, or at least in the engine. (According to the trailer description on YouTube all footage was captured on a PC.)

The game is being developed by genDESIGN. In the trailer we see a man climb aboard a giant mech and then apparently go off in the head of the mech because it's actually a giant spaceship…something. I don't know what's going on, but it looks great!

Fumito Ueda is known for directing and creating popular PS2 games Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Then he helped lead development The Last Guardian through his own studio, genDESIGN. Although that game was not as popular as Ico or Shadow of the Colossusit still kept the same vibes as Ueda's previous titles and gained many admirers.

It looks like this is still very early and maybe a few years away. I mean, he doesn't even have a title yet! However, I'm excited to check it out because Ueda's past work is awesome and him making a sci-fi game has really, as the kids say, really pissed me off. Hopefully the development timeline is shorter than Ueda's last game, The Last Guardian, and we'll get to play it sooner rather than later. For now, we wait and think about that big mech head.
